AiC TODAY
The AiC has several projects underway that may be of interest to you. We are open to all educators involved in the life cycle of BIM. We would like to see multiple participants from various colleges of the same university who can identify how BIM is being integrated into the curriculum. We have a monthly program and business meeting, typically on the first Thursday of the month at 11 am eastern time. See meetings for the latest dial-in information and agenda.
We have an annual symposium in the Spring; the schedule for submission of abstracts and papers can be found under Meetings & Resources.
Work continues on the Body of Knowledge. Plan to get involved in helping to define the future of BIM education.

The educational design demonstrated in AiC's BIM BOK was a critical resource for bSI's COBie Certification Subcommittee during the creation of the COBie Educational Curriculum, which led to the COBie Foundation and Practitioner exam contents and COBie Registered Training Provider requirements.

VISION
Creating a collaborative educational environment that integrates all aspects of the facility life cycle so that graduates have a comprehensive broad-based understanding of the facilities industry while identifying a narrow focus area within which to specialize.
MISSION
To identify and act upon issues related to transforming facilities education to meet the needs of a collaborative life cycle focused facilities industry in the information age.
STRATEGY
The initial strategy will focus on six areas:
1. Establish a steering group of enlightened educators to coordinate the efforts of the coalition.
2. Expand the academic coalition to include multiple disciplines from multiple academic institutions engaged in educating future facility practitioners.
3. Organize and manage the publication of articles to educate the facilities industry in multiple venues. Develop a juried on-line journal by invitation based on submissions from the annual meeting.
4. Coordinate an academic symposium, once a year, to present the most notable academic approaches to transforming the facilities industry.
5. Develop a compendium of research being accomplished at colleges and universities and publish references.
6. Be the primary source identifying the common Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Attributes/Abilities for BIM based on ISO 17024 and be recognized as the basis for future common coursework worldwide for providing BIM education and the foundation of certification.
COST
There is currently no cost to joining the AIC, although there will be a cost to attend the annual conference to defray the costs of that event.
AFFILLIATIONS
We have links with the buildingSMART International and the BIM Forum, but are not directly associated with either at this time. We are an independent organization of educators, subject matter experts and industry partners associated to further the teaching methods related to BIM. We offer no certificates or credentialing although are creating the foundations for both.
ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
We hold an annual symposium in March/April time frame. The 2020 event is scheduled to be at University of Oklahoma April 6-7. This will be our 14th such event. The primary focus of the two-day event is presentation of juried papers delivered by educators from around the world. See the announcement of the annual symposium by clicking here.
